This is the year...

Welcome to my new blog. I am planning on keeping record of my own journey to living a more simple life with LESS STUFF! I am going for a version of minimalism, whatever that may end up being for me. I've been thinking about it for a while, wrestling with getting rid of stuff and trying to live a simpler life. But this is the year I ma going to hold myself accountable.

This is the year that I quit my six-figure job to stay at home with my one year-old twins (my last day is January 2nd!). This is the year I want to get rid of stuff that I spend so much time organizing.  I want to be able to fully enjoy my time with my kids, my husband, my extended family and friends, too! I want my kids to grow up with a mom who isn't constantly distracted with managing stuff! I also see this as the beginning of a journey of self-improvement.

When I mention to people who have had kids for a while that I feel like I've just been keeping my head above water each day, they reply that they've been feeling that way for X years (X being equal to the age of their oldest child). I feel there has to be a better way to live. I don't want to spend the next 18 years feeling that way. So, I am going to try to do something about it.

I expect this journey to be hard in a few ways. First, I am a pack rat at heart and feel discomfort when getting rid of things, but I am hoping to change that by seeing how freeing it can be. Second, time will be a challenge. I will take care of my kids every day except for Saturday, when I will drive 40 minutes each way to work for the whole day. After I do this for me, maybe I can help someone else, and we'll see where it goes from there.

First up: clothing.
